My co-worker came back to the office today after lunch with a Trader Joe’s tote and an excited gleam in his eye.
“So, I decided to do some baking last night and made some beer bread. Would you like a slice?”
A couple of things exploded into my mind within the instant:
1. A man who bakes?! What is this miracle?!! And he’s my co-worker and friend? Hallelujah!
2. What is this tasty morsel he speaks of…beer bread? I must have some.
Clearly, I had already decided to accept his very kind offer. And if there was any coffin to nail shut, it happened when he pulled out the Nutella jar from the sweet depths of his tote bag.
Delicious and creamy cocoa hazelnut spread smeared across freshly baked bread? Can we say afternoon delight?
It was an impromptu party in the break room among a handful of dear co-workers as he warmed thick slices in the oven for all of us.
Such a kind heart to share his freshly baked yummy-goodness.
I can’t wait to try the recipe. He said that it’s particularly good when an unusual craft-type beer is used…like blueberry.
3 cups self rising flour
12oz of beer
Up to a 1/2 cup of sugar (depending on the style and flavor of beer)
Mix well and pour into a greased loaf pan.
Bake at 375 degrees for approximately 55min
