A couple of weeks ago, I had the great delight of sharing lunch with Paige from The Positive Pit Bull.
We met up at Press Coffee+Crepes in downtown Graham, and I couldn’t wait to hear what she had planned for her pitty projects in 2017.
If you aren’t familiar with The Positive Pit Bull, here’s a snippet from the non-profit’s Facebook Page:
The Positive Pit Bull is a non-profit 501(c)(3) focused on changing the general negative perception of pit bulls.
Our efforts include education and advocacy for the pit bull breeds, and we work on keeping as many as possible out of the shelters through education, positive training and socialization.
Responsible ownership is the cornerstone of our efforts and we reach out to communities to help owners become more responsible in owning these dogs.
We promote pit bulls as family members, as deserving members of society that add joy and value to people’s lives, and as the happy-go-lucky, fun-loving, people-loving joyful nature that is the highlight of the true pit bull personality.

This is the pitty that stole my heart.
Before Luna, I was only aware of the breed and the controversies from a distance.
Luna taught me how sweet and loving pit bulls could be. She inspired me to dig deeper and learn about the breed’s history and how – as often is the case – nurture seriously affects nature.
I saw her grow from a tiny puppy into a sturdy dog in the care of an owner who loved her. I saw how she loved him and loved being with her family.
She was a people dog, and the kid and I benefited from her warm heart and wet kisses.
INSIDER INFORMATION: Paige has a new project in the works. You aren’t going to want to miss the announcement. Follow her on social media and stay tuned.
